My journey in healthcare has always been deeply personal.  Mark, my younger brother, was born 18 months after me with Down syndrome, and he shaped my life in more ways than anyone could ever imagine.  Without the gift of having Mark as my brother, I would never have followed the path I did, nor been so fortunate to dedicate my life to a profession that I still love just as much as I did 42 years ago.

Mark taught me unconditional love, the true meaning of family, and the power of unwavering commitment - values that have guided me throughout my career.  And, of course, he also taught me how to follow Liverpool Football Club with great passion and loyalty!

On the 10 December 2023, Mark passed away, but his influence remains at the heart of everything I do. It is because of Mark that I established Down Right Healthcare, a service dedicated to ensuring adults with Down syndrome receive the holistic, person-centred care they deserve.  Mark’s life continues to inspire my dedication to advocacy, education, and lifelong healthcare support.

Through Down Right Healthcare, I strive every day to honour Mark’s legacy - ensuring that others receive the respect, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.  Mark will always be my greatest teacher, and through this work, his impact lives on.
